Routt County Photo Contest

Call for local photographers

Say cheese, Routt County! To kick off the new year, the County is hosting a photo contest where residents can share what they love most about the County through photographs.

Contest Details:

Submit up to three, high-resolution photos for award consideration. Two winning photographs will be selected – one taken by an adult and one taken by a youth photographer under 18 years of age. The winning photographers will be recognized at a Routt County Board Meeting and their photo will be used as part of the county’s Master Plan document.

Photos that capture the best of Routt County, including but not limited to our rural lifestyle, nature, community, outdoor recreation, family life, agriculture and wildlife are encouraged.

The contest is open now and will run through Friday, February 28. After the submission deadline, all photo entries will be added to Facebook for a public vote. The top three photos in each age category with the most “likes” will move on to a final judging round of internal panelists including elected officials and county staff. Winners will be notified in late February/early March.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must live in Routt County
  • The photo(s) must be taken in unincorporated Routt County or incorporated communities within Routt County
  • Photos taken prior to the start of the contest period will be accepted
  • Images must be at least 2600 x 3300 (8.5x11 @ 300 dpi) PSD, TIFF or JPEG

Submission of your photo will also require that you provide a photo release to Routt County giving the County permission to use the image for future promotional purposes.

Historical photos will be accepted. Please give photo credit to the original photographer, if applicable. Routt County will give photo credit if any entries are selected for future promotional use to the greatest extent possible.

Photo submissions and an application form should be completed online by visiting:
