SERVING ON A BOARD OR COMMISSION

There are numerous volunteer boards and commissions that community members can be involved in to make a difference in Routt County. View the board descriptions by clicking on the links to the left, to see which one suits you best. Some boards require a good deal of time commitment and others meet infrequently. Most positions will require completion of the Boards and Commissions Application to apply. Please read the board description to verify if there is a different preferred application method or form.

Yampa Valley Housing Authority Board of Directors:

The YVHA Board of Directors govern and control all YVHA business affairs, activities, and property. To learn more about YVHA click here


Board of Adjustment:
Primary Two, Primary Three, Primary Four, Primary Five, Alternate One, Alternate Two

The Board of Adjustment performs all functions, powers, and duties as defined by the Routt County Zoning Resolution including hearing and deciding requests for variances from strict application of various zoning regulations. Cemetery Boards:

Extension Advisory Committee:
Four Board Opportunities

This committee helps identify local needs as they relate to broader issues identified by state or national advisory groups and the CSU Extension staff. Committee members provide suggestions in determining program priorities for the County and serve as a support base for CSU Extension programs and staff. Fair Advisory Board:

The Routt County Fair Advisory Board (FAB) plans and produces the annual Routt County Fair and advises the Board of County Commissioners on matters related to the Routt County Fairgrounds. The Board is comprised of nine volunteer members. All volunteers must reside in Routt County, one member from each Road district and six at-large members. Members serve three-year terms and may serve successive terms without limitation. The Colorado State University Extension program Agents and the Routt County FFA Chapter Advisor are non-voting ex-officio members. For more information, please visit the Fair Advisory Website. Historic Preservation Board:
Three openings

The Routt County Historic Preservation Board was established in 1993 as an advisory board to the Routt County Board of County Commissioners. The Board's function is to review applications and to make recommendations for approval of buildings and sites to the local Routt County Register of Historic Properties. Human Services Civil Review Panel:

Board members provide a forum for grievances concerning conduct of Social Services personnel in performing their child welfare duties. The appointees must be residents of Routt County and should have personal or professional knowledge and experience with children. This panel requires at least one member that is a parent to a minor child. To apply please fill out the Boards and Commissions Application.



Library Districts

West Routt Library District:

The West Routt Library District Board of Trustees meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM at the Hayden Library.  For further information, please contact the Library at (970) 276-3777 or visit the Hayden Library website. Museum and Heritage Fund Advisory Board:
At Large - District III

The Museum and Heritage Fund Advisory Board members make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding the Museum Entities' yearly budgets and the Capacity Building Grant applications. Noxious Weed Advisory Board:
District II opening

 The Noxious Weed Advisory Board was originally established in 1996 to be in compliance with the Noxious Weed Act. The board meets quarterly and advises the Board of County Commissioners regarding noxious weed management and provides recommendations as needed. Planning Commission: 
District IV, Steamboat Springs District, Town of Oak Creek District, Town of Yampa District, At Large, Alternate I, Alternate II

Commissioners participate in land use decisions, policy planning, and make decisions on development proposals in Routt County. Meetings are held the first and third Thursday of every month. Please fill out the Boards and Commissions Application and email the Planning Director, Kristy Winser, attaching to that email a current resume and letter of intent.


Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) Advisory Board:

 The duty of the PDR Advisory Board is to make funding recommendations to the County Commissioners to purchase voluntarily offered development rights of ranch and agricultural lands and natural areas within Routt County. The Board should have equitable representation from agriculture, conservation, and business. Yampa Valley Airport Commission:

The YVAC mission is to maximize revenue and customer service at the Yampa Valley Regional Airport and the Steamboat Springs Airport while ensuring safety and value to the community.
