AMERICAN EX-PRISONERS OF WAR : The American Ex-Prisoners of War organization is a national organization for American citizens who were captured by the enemy. Membership is open to all former prisoners of war from any theater in any war, all former civilian internees and to the families of such persons. There is no such thing as an "associate" member and we have no auxiliaries. Each and every member is entitled to all privileges of membership.

HOUSING:

ARMED FORCES RETIREMENT HOME : More than 150 years ago, Congress established a home for destitute Navy officers, sailors and Marines in Philadelphia. Some 20 years later in 1851, with money demanded as booty from the Mexican War, Congress established an asylum for "old and disabled soldiers" in Washington, D.C.

DEFENSE COMMISSARY AGENCY : With headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia, DeCA operates a worldwide chain of 284 commissaries to provide groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families. Commissary patrons purchase items at cost plus a 5 percent surcharge, which covers the construction of new commissaries and the modernization of existing stores.

FISHER HOUSE : Fisher Houses provide a warm, compassionate "home away from home" for military and veterans' families while a loved one is receiving care at major military and VA medical centers. The houses are comfortably furnished homes donated by Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher of New York.
