Routt County School Districts Projects

The Routt County Regional Building Department is approved by the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control to provide full Plan Review and Permitting services to our School Districts for all Building and Mechanical Permits. All Routt County School Districts or Community Colleges may choose to submit your Building Permits directly to the Routt County Regional Building Department for review and permitting, we additionally can provide you the Mechanical Permitting Review. 

State Adopted Building Codes for Schools: School Projects must be Designed and Constructed under the State Adopted Building Codes, please use the below Document Links for reviewing the State Adopted Codes. The Division of Fire Prevention and Control is the State Division that Adopts the Building Codes. 

Plumbing, Gas, and Electrical Permits for School Projects: All Plumbing and Electrical Contractors performing work on school projects must obtain their individual Electrical, Plumbing, and Gas Permits from the State of Colorado. We will then partner with the State Electrical and Plumbing Inspections throughout your project to ensure compliance is being met and proper coordination of inspection and final approvals are being completed. 

Fire Sprinkler and Alarm Permits for School Projects: Contractors and Design Professional will have to submit their permit application and design documents to the Division of Fire Prevention and Control, unless the School lies within the City of Steamboat Springs Fire District, if your within the Steamboat Springs Fire District then you may submit your fire sprinkler/alarm plans and permit application directly to the City of Steamboat Springs Fire Department. The Building Department will partner with the Fire District throughout your project to ensure compliance is being met and proper coordination of inspection and final approvals are being completed. 

School District Permit & Plan Review Fee Schedules: Routt County School District Projects are only subject to the Building Department Plan Review and Permit Fee, no other Fees will be assessed to School District Projects. All School Projects that have a Total Project Valuation of $4,000,000 or less will follow our regular Routt County Permit Fee Schedule provided below, click on the link to review.

School Projects Exceeding $4,000,000 in Total Project Valuation: Professionals or Applicants who are submitting School District Projects Exceeding $4,000,000 in Total Project Valuation must contact the Building Official with Routt County Building Department, and provide preliminary or conceptual plans for review. The Building Official will then provide the professional and the School District with a Estimated Proposed Fee Contract for both Plan Review and Inspection Services for your project.
